The label, that's what got me interested, but Canal's
had a nice informative tag beneath the bottle as well. 82%
Sauvignon Blanc, 8& Viognier and 10% Verdelho produces
quite an interesting wine as the Viognier adds a magical
flair to it and the Verdelho brings in a little bit of raw
acidity.
While this wine doesn't impress me as much as some of
the other wines that I have had made from three or more
grapes, it does have a nice place at the table, and can
carry itself with great aplomb.
The wine itself has all of the traits that you want in a
white, but with an imbalance that makes it perfect. The
back label says citrus, honeysuckle and pear as well as
melon. I'll admit that my mother was the pear fanatic in
the house, but that this does have some pear in it. I
don't taste the melon, unless I reach for slight
cantaloupe. The citrus is there, but I am thinking almost
like a pard-down pineapple.
When tasting this wine, you get a nice taste followed by
a joval finish. This might not be bad by the fireplace.
